| Research Abstract |
寄生虫のビルハルツ住血吸虫は皮膚から体内に侵入し、虫卵は膀胱で持続的な炎症を起こす。流行地エジプトでは膀胱癌の発生率が高いが、住血吸虫が膀胱癌を起こす機構は不明であった。本研究ではエジプトの住血吸虫症患者および膀胱癌患者からの標本が多数得られ、膀胱の癌細胞と炎症細胞において、炎症に関連したDNA損傷が蓄積していることを明らかにした。住血吸虫による膀胱癌に炎症関連のDNA損傷が関与する機構を示した。
