Research Abstract |
This is a comprehensive study on the living sustainability of senior citizens, how to live self-supportingly in their neighborhood, or their dormitory towns. We researched firstly how the lone aging people have a meal collectively in 'collective houses' or 'group houses'. 'Kyo-shoku (having a meal together)' and 1-laishoku (delivering a meal)' are keywords on researching the meal support for aged people. Secondly, we researched on the historical meaning of the 'community business' or the 'community-cooperative' in the United Kingdom. Thirdly, we researched what is the best town planning for the sustainability of the aged people. And lastly, we researched how they could keep their good health by physical exercise with singing and playing. The points got in this research are: 1. The collective meal system in the community co-operative has an important meaning for the aged people not only from the point of their sustainable living but also the point of their working and communication chance. 2. The 'community cooperative' system for their sustainable living will raise us rethinking on the modern town planning ideology, which separates living area from business area, or living from working. 3. The ideas of the co-operative of living and working together in the community are on the historical tradition of English cooperative movements, and now is important as the alternative to capitalist market economy. 4. For the health sustainability of aged people, the exercise should be more enjoyable and efficacious for them, if it is connected with artistic expression, especially vocal music and musical drama
