| Research Abstract |
天皇の詔勅は古代律令制以来存在してきたが、近代になってはじめて「国民」全体に向けて発せられるようになった。天皇は「国民」に呼びかけることで近代的な「天皇」へと転換した。他方で、「国民」は天皇の発する詔勅の受信者となることで成立した。このように、近代日本において天皇と国民は、詔勅を通して「呼びかけ-呼びかけられる」関係におかれていた。本研究では、こうした相互の呼応関係が、どのように成立したかを分析することによって、近代日本における「国民」意識の特質を明らかにすることができた。
