| Research Abstract |
本研究は、14-16世紀に英語で書かれた宗教散文文学の一次資料である同時代の写本を研究対象とし、写本の編集方針やそこに残された読者の痕跡を調査し、未刊行資料については校訂テクストや書誌学的記述を整備することで、宗教散文が中世後期の読者によっていかに受容され、また受容を通じてテクストの性質が変容した様を具体的に明らかにした。さらにその結果を応用して、中世後期イギリス文学の諸作品を同時代の書物文化との関わりにおいて個別に分析して、作品のジャンル的特質を明らかにするとともに、文学史的に新たな位置づけをおこなった。
