| Research Abstract |
本研究は20世紀前半のアメリカ演劇・文学における東洋人表象の変遷を扱い、従来はハリウッド映画との関係のみで論じられてきたイエローフェイスの営みを広くアメリカ文化全般に開くことを目的とする。舞台からラジオ、映像へと多ジャンルへ展開したイエローフェイスは異人種装による社会批評、実験演劇、政治プロパガンダと同時にそれに対するパロディをも準備する手法としてアメリカ文化の主要な文化作用を担った。
