| Research Abstract |
百年前にスウェーデンで地理読本として著された『ニルスの不思議な旅』の成立過程とその内容から地理教育の普遍的思想を探った。国土・地方に対する認識を深め、自然と人間の共生と近代化との調和をめざす同書の主張は、地理教育の普遍的思想であり、持続可能な社会を模索する今日の地理教育に示唆するところが大である。同書は、各地の教員による情報提供や著者の現地調査に基づいており、当代の様々な情報収集による一大地誌プロジェクトでもある。その作成過程、事実をふまえた物語性、スケールを変えた地域描写なども今日の地理教育教材に参考になる。
