| Research Abstract |
市町村合併や地方財政の効率性、地方間の財政格差についての研究を行った。その結果、効率化を促進する政策が財政格差を拡大させる傾向があり、逆に財政格差を縮小させる政策やそのための財政移転制度そのものが(格差縮小のために用いられなくても)効率性を損なう傾向があることが分かった。また、距離の遠い地方政府間での財政移転が、拠出する側の厚生を大きく下げるという意味でうまく行かない可能性があるという結果も得た。
