Research Abstract |
This study aims to contribute to the introduction and promotion of the snow and ice energy in cold and heavy snowfall regions in the future. To achieve this goal, we have developed a new concept for improvement of the performance of a snow and ice energy system. We developed ice making cycles using natural cold resources and large scale utilization model of snow mounds. First, we proposed the outline of this cycle. Basic experiments in a freezing compartment and field experimental results were shown. Second, an ice container system for temporary air-conditioning was developed for the simple cooling of spaces, such as prefabricated buildings and tents used for events and at times of disaster, and analysis and experiments were conducted concerning the system. The concept of this system was established. Two types of cooling methods - natural and forced circulation - were adopted. The cooling capacity was predicted by calculation. Measurement results were also presented concerning the cooling capacity of the forced circulation-type system in a temporary tent. Furthermore, the ice container system was actually tested on a temporary tent and a prefabricated building and demonstration experiments were conducted. The operation results were indicated and the cooling capacity was evaluated.
