| Research Abstract |
カタクチイワシを受精卵から飼育し, 仔稚魚の生活史特性を他の多獲性魚類であるマアジおよびマサバと比較した. カタクチイワシは瞬発遊泳速度・巡航遊泳速度とも, マサバおよびマアジに比べて遅いこと, また体長20mmを越えるまでミズクラゲに容易に捕食されることが明らかとなった. 骨形成の完了する体長21mmに達するまでに約30日を要することから, これまでの期間, 本種はクラゲ類の強い捕食圧を受けるものと推察された.
