Research Abstract |
We have done the studies on anti ate immunity by the APOBEC family proteins and obtained the results as described below. 1. Analysis on antiviral activity of APOBEC3 proteins 1) Antiviral activity against other viruses : We demonstrate that APOBEC3G has antiviral activity against HBV. 2) Antiviral activity of other APOBEC3 proteins : We demonstrate that APOBEC3B and 3F also have anti-HIV-1 activity and that their antiviral activity and Vif-sensitivity vary. 3) Antiviral activity against murine Ieukemia virus : We demonstrate that murine retrovirus escapes form murine APOBEC3 via two distinct novel mechanisms. 2. Regulation of APOBEC3G function by phosphorylation by PKA : We demonstrate that PKA phosphorylates APOBEC3G and that its phosphorylation render APOBEC3G resistant to Vif-induced degradation. 3. Regulation of APOBEC3G expression : We demonstrate that IFN-a induces APOBEC3G expression in hepatoeytes.
