Research Abstract

腎臓のもつ解剖学的複雑性のため、慢性腎不全に対する再生医療はこれまでの他臓器で行われてきた再生医療研究とは異にした全く新たなアプローチが必要になると考えられる。我々はこれまで異種胎仔の発生プログラムを用いた全く新しいアプローチによってヒト骨髄由来間葉系幹細胞からネフロンへの分化誘導に成功し、さらにこのヒト由来腎臓原器をホスト動物の大網内で腎臓への分化をさらに誘導し、尿生成能も持たせることに成功した。つまりヒト由来腎臓をラット体内で機能させることが可能となった。
