| Research Abstract |
神経管閉鎖障害(NTDs)のモデルマウスを用いて、その発症メカニズムや葉酸摂取によるNTDsの予防効果について検討した。神経管閉鎖期における母獣の血中葉酸濃度の減少が、NTDs発症頻度の増加要因の1つであることが示唆された。脳形態形成時胎仔のFgf8、Emx2遺伝子の前脳部の発現異常が神経管閉鎖障害誘発の一因となっており、葉酸前処理により発現異常が改善されたことから葉酸によるNTDs予防機序の一端が明らかとなった。
