| Research Abstract |
眼血流調節、特に眼圧が変動した際の調節において、gap結合を介した網膜血管の細胞間連絡が重要な役割を果たしていること、さらに糖尿病ではgap結合に破綻を生じており、それが糖尿病における眼循環障害ひいては糖尿病網膜症の発症につながること、またこれらの病態においてグリア細胞も深く関与していることなどを明らかした。以上の知見は、糖尿病網膜症の病態解明や治療薬開発において重要なものであると考えている。
