Research Abstract |
紅色光合成細菌Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2.4.1由来の光反応中心複合体の1.95Åの高分解能X線結晶構造解析に日本で初めて成功した。その結果、光合成光保護メカニズムに関与すると考えられるカロテノイドの結合長の変位を検出するためには2.5Å以上の高分解能が必須であることがわかった。また分解能を左右するクライオプロテクションなどの操作を改良することにより、従来よりも小さい光を透過する結晶でも高分解能を得ることに成功した。
