Research Abstract

本研究では、仏教を伝統とするアジア各国の女性による国際的ネットワークによって、10世紀末以降、断絶していた上座部仏教の比丘尼(女性出家者)の戒脈(師から弟子へと継承される出家者の戒律の系統)とサンガ(出家者集団)が現代社会に復興されてきたプロセスをたどり、その主要なリーダーにインタヴュー調査を重ねてきた。特に、タイにおける比丘尼受戒の拡大を中心に、その発端となったスリランカにおける比丘尼受戒の経緯、韓国比丘尼の役割、上座部と同様の改革を目指したチベット仏教における比丘尼サンガ復興に向けた動きを具体的に明らかにした。
