| Research Abstract |
森林の撹乱すなわち林冠開放にともなって、下層植生の発達がシカの餌を供給するとの仮説を検証するための、撹乱後早期のシカの分布・利用状況に関する基礎資料を蓄積した。大規模な風倒跡地において、シカ密度は広域スケールでは周辺と同等の低密度レベルであっても、施業段階に応じた局所スケールでは下層植生の再生した場所に集中する傾向がみられた。これは仮説に矛盾しない。また稚樹の食痕率は、シカ生体の目視や短期間の糞塊蓄積数では検出が困難な密度レベルでもシカの存在・利用を早期に検出できる可能性があり、低密度時のシカの分布・存在の指標として有効であることが示唆された。
