Research Abstract

東南アジア熱帯雨林で優占するフタバガキ科樹種の開花・結実メカニズムに焦点を当てて研究を行った。フタバガキ科の巨大高木Dryobalanops aromaticaは、開花・結実時に樹体内リン濃度が有意に低下した。また、開花・非開花個体の間で樹体内リン濃度に有意な違いがあった。リンは熱帯雨林の土壌で最も制限要因となりやすい栄養塩であるため、樹体内へのリンの蓄積具合がフタバガキ科樹種の繁殖参加を左右する可能性が高い。さらに、人工的に開花誘導因子である乾燥を与える操作実験を行い、D. aromaticaの1個体について開花誘導に成功した。
