Outline of Annual Research Achievements

We extracted DNA from 199 human cell lines and from 100 human blood and 27 breast cancer tissues sample. Samples were subjected to detect BLV presence in human by sensitive PCR. PCR result showed that all human cell lines were BLV negative. We observed BLV gene specific bands in 6 blood and 5 cancer tissue sample. To confirm the PCR result, we performed two different high throughput sequencing method, namely viral DNA-Capture-Seq and LM PCR library enhancement NGS. Both of the high throughput sequencing failed to detect any single read mapped to BLV sequencing. BLV detection results indicate that there is no evidence for BLV-specific sequences. The positive result in blood and cancer tissue samples might be caused by the cross contamination during the process of performing the experiment.
