Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Various techniques for materials analyses (SAXS, BET, FT-IR, SEM, TEM) were used for determination of the structural and morphological characteristics of the materials synthesized in the period October 2018- March 2019. Based on the results the most appropriate method for surfactant extraction and way of mixing of the silanol precursors were determined. During the period from March 2019 to March 2020 mesoporous hybrid materials and porous multishell muti-functionalized nanoparticles were synthesized.
About the synthesized mesoporous hybrid materials, the influence of the surfactant: silanol precursors ratio on the pore shape, pore ordering, surface area, pore size and pore volume was investigated. For determination of the materials structure and morphology various materials analysis techniques were used. Based on the carried out analyses was concluded that the surfactant: silanol precursors ratio has significant influence on the materials morphology. The samples synthesized with higher amount of the silanol precursors have significantly higher textural characteristics values. About the synthesized multishell nanoparticles, the influence on the reaction volume on the particles` size was investigated. Nanoparticles with bigger size were synthesized in bigger reaction volume. The most appropriate surfactant extraction approach was determined too (extraction for 6h in alcoholic solution of HCl and 5 min ultrasonication at room temperature).

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

Organization of the materials analyses takes time. Currently I am trying to reach analysis institution to make measurements.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

>Carrying out of solid state NMR analysis of the synthesized mesoporous hybrid materials and porous multishell muti-functionalized nanoparticles, and also TEM, SEM and BET analysis of the materials which haven’t been analyzed up to now.
>Determination of the maximal silsesquioxane: tetraalkoxysilane ratio for synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid materials with high textural characteristics values and ordered mesoporous structure- materials synthesis and characterization.
>Influence of the number of the functional group and the length of the organic group on the materials structure and morphology - materials synthesis and characterization.
>Investigation of the sorption properties of the materials toward appropriate adsorptive which will be chosen based on the structural and morphologic characteristics of the materials.
