Outline of Annual Research Achievements

東南アジアでは,都市化に伴うヒートアイランドのエリア拡大と強度の上昇が顕著である.ヒートアイランドの形成は,人口密度,化石燃料による二酸化炭素(温室効果ガス)の放出量とも密接に関係し,植生指数や市街地指数に反映することが明らかになった.都市化が地域的に進行すると,ヒートアイランドのエリアはさらに郊外へと拡大するだけでなく,中心部と郊外の地表面温度の較差も同時に広がっていくことが空間的シミュレーション分析によって裏付けられた.都心における高層化もヒートアイランド強度の上昇に影響を与える.
急増都市(東南アジアのジャカルタ,バンコク,マニラ)を対象にヒートアイランド強度の変化とその影響を数値実験によって評価した.その結果,過去100年におけるこれらの都市におけるこれまでの気温上昇に対しては,全球規模の温暖化以上に都市化それ自体による影響が大きかったことが分かった.
都市生態環境の保全については,統計データと衛星画像を用いて分析した.フィリピンにおける139の都市において,都市のHHRI値を,ハザード,曝露,脆弱性の相対的な重みと,3リスク要素の指標値により推定したところ,マニラ市において非常に高いheat health risk index (HHRI)が示された.人口が高密に分布するため,マニラ市では熱曝露指数が高くなった.分析で考慮されたマニラ首都圏のすべての都市は,HHRI上位20都市に含まれた.持続的都市発展の有効な政策手段としては,暴露要素(人口)についての低減や,都市緑化などのヒートアイランド緩和策が重要であることが明らかになった.
令和4年度は,村山,森本,山下の3名がコロンボ大都市圏における都市化の進展,土地利用変化と都市環境変化との関係性を解明するため,現地の共同研究者とともに,フィールドワークを実施した.
