粘弾性流体に特有な渦の数理解析

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

円柱周りの流れを考える。例えば水などの粘性流体では、(流体の粘度と速度に関する無次元数である)レイノルズ数がある程度大きいときに円柱の下流方向においてカルマン渦が発生する。これはよく知られている事実であり、非圧縮ナヴィエ・ストークス方程式の数値シミュレーションによって再現できる。一方、粘弾性流体では、レイノルズ数が小さく(緩和時間と剪断速度に関する無次元数である)ワイゼンベルグ数が大きいときに円柱の上流方向において、渦が発生することが物理実験によって確認されている。これが、粘弾性流体に特有な渦である。粘弾性流体に特有な渦を偏微分方程式の数値シミュレーションによって再現することが本研究の目的である。数値シミュレーション手法において物理的に自然な数値解法であるラグランジュ座標に基づく定式化を拡張した一般化リー微分のアイデアに基づいて、上対流マックスウェル微分の時間2次精度化に成功した(投稿済)。汎用的な時間離散化を与えており、有限差分法や有限要素法と組み合わせることが可能である。これを用いて高ワイゼンベルグ数の問題を調査し、ある程度の有効性を見出した。解析は容易ではなくなるものの、よく知られている対数を用いた方程式の変換のアイデアなどによって配向テンソルの正定値性を維持することを考慮しつつ、引き続き開発を行う。一方で、純粋数学、細胞生物学におけるモデリング、最適化問題の側面から渦に注目した結果が得られた。特に、オルドロイドB型の方程式の一つであるPTT(Phan-Thien--Tanner)モデルを用いて、円柱まわりに非対称性が現れることが見出された。

Reason

一般化リー微分のアイデアに基づいた上対流マックスウェル微分の時間2次精度化に成功している。また、純粋数学、細胞生物学におけるモデリング、最適化問題などの観点から渦に注目した結果が得られている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

数値解法としては、対数を用いた方程式を変換するアイデアなどを検討する予定である。解析の観点からある程度避けてきたが安定性を優先する方針をとる。オルドロイドB型のモデルでは非対称性は現れるものの、まだ渦は見られていないのが現状である。代表者・分担者によって得られた知見を用いて、粘弾性流体に特有な渦が発生するメカニズムに迫る。
