Outline of Annual Research Achievements

星の進化とその最終段階である超新星爆発を支配する乱流現象を解明し,現象論的ではない自己無撞着な理論モデルを構成した.近年,超新星爆発の研究は大規模数値シミュレーションを用いて大きな発展を遂げつつあるが,内部の乱流現象の理論的解明にはほど遠い.従来の乱流モデルは,混合距離理論に代表されるように,経験的にその場限りで与えられるものにとどまっている.本研究では,まず強非線型非一様な乱流の理論を星の進化を記述する方程式系に適用し乱流熱流束 などの相関を解析し,その結果を用いて,基礎方程式に基づいた乱流モデルを構築した.
この理論モデルはローカル・シミュレーションでまずテストされ,その後グローバル・シミュレーションに採用された.この過程を踏むことで,これまでの計算では解像できなかった乱流の効果を自己無撞着なモデルを通じて取り入れ計算することができた.
恒星表面での放射による強い冷却によって生じる沈降プリュームは,恒星内部での質量・熱輸送を大きく促進する.このプリュームによる乱流質量輸送や熱輸送は,混合距離理論に基づく従来の勾配拡散型モデルでは再現できない.本研究では,乱流の非平衡効果を組み入れたモデルを時間・空間二重平均の枠組みで構成した.この非平衡モデルで,恒星内部での質量・熱輸送をよく再現できた.さらに,二重平均の枠組みで,乱れのコヒーレント成分であるプリュームとインコヒーレント成分であるランダム乱れとの間のエネルギー交換を決める要素を特定した.プリュームの速度勾配とランダム乱れ応力の結合が,恒星表面での冷却と恒星内部でのエネルギー散逸とを繋ぐ鍵となることを初めて示した.
これらの結果から,非平衡モデルを超新星のモデルとして最適化し超新星爆発の条件を検討することが可能となった.
以上の成果は,それぞれに関連する現象への適用として,業績に上げる論文として公刊あるいは投稿されている.
