Solving puzzles in the baryon interaction through electron beam spectroscopy of few-body Lambda hypernuclei

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

PH1 実験 (トリチウム標的を用いた nn-Λ 探索実験) のデータを解析し、カウントベースによる信号探索の結果を論文としてまとめて公表した。生成断面積に変換後の解析結果と同様に、カウントベースのスペクトラムから統計的に有意にnn-Λ三体系事象信号を確認するには至らなかったが、期待される背景事象のみでは理解できないイベントの剰余があることも完全には排除できない。得られた物理結果に基づき、信号感度をさらに向上させた研究展開についての具体的な検討を進められた。さらに、nn-Λ事象探索のための物理チャンネルの他に、エネルギー校正用に取得した水素標的からのデータから得られる物理研究にも力を注いだ。水素標的から得られたΛ、Σ、エータプライム粒子の生成事象ピークの解析を行い、これらの粒子の仮想光子線に対する生成断面積を導出した。本結果はこれらの粒子の光生成メカニズムに関する新たな知見を与える。得られた実験結果は、論文としてまとめ近日公表する予定である。
PH2 実験 (ヘリウム標的を用いたラムダハイパー水素3,4の分光研究) については、実験設定や戦略について国際共同研究者や JLab のスタッフと具体的な議論を行った。本研究で進めるヘリウムガス標的を用いた実験では、固体標的のように 0.1 mm 厚さ程度の無視できる厚みでなく数10cmに及ぶ長さの標的を使用するため、高分解能で実験研究を遂行するためには粒子の生成位置を高い精度で再構成する必要がある。そのため、従来の横偏向磁石系でなく縦偏向磁石系でないといけない。Geant4 を用いたモンテカルロ・シミュレーションにより最適な実験設定を調べ、基礎的な実験セットアップについて明確にした。本研究で得られた基礎設計に基づき詳細な実験設計に移行する準備が整った。
