ENSO気候変動は超高層大気をどう揺らすのか:成層圏オゾンが果たす役割の解明

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

対流圏(高度0~10km)と海洋間の相互作用現象であるエルニーニョ・南方振動(ENSO)が、数百km上空の超高層大気領域(熱圏・電離圏)にまで影響を及ぼすことが長期間観測から見出されている。本研究では、この数百km間の上下結合において、成層圏オゾンが駆動する放射・力学過程を、観測データの総合解析と高精度数値モデルを駆使して解明する。具体的には、(課題1)ENSOに伴う成層圏(高度10~50km)オゾン変動の定量化、(課題2)オゾン変動が中間圏・下部熱圏(50~110km)に及ぼす力学的影響の解明、(課題3)中間圏・下部熱圏の力学的変動がもたらす電離圏・熱圏(100km以上)変動の解明、(課題4) ENSOにおける対流圏・超高層大気結合の太陽活動依存性の評価、を実施する。今年度は課題(1)を実施した。具体的に、オゾンは太陽紫外線が関わる光化学反応により生成され、紫外線の吸収と赤外線の放射を通し、成層圏・中間圏の温度場と風速場に大きく影響する重要な大気微量成分である。本年度は、米国AURA衛星(2004年~)搭載の高精度MLS観測データを用い、ENSOに伴うオゾン変動成分の空間分布と時間変動を抽出し、その変動の特徴を調べた。また、アメリア国立大気研究センターのWACCMモデルを利用し、エルニーニョ・南方振動についてのアンサンブルシミュレーションをメンバー100以上行った。来年度はその解析を行う。
