Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the final year of the project, we achieved fruitful results on development of tactile sensing systems with active morphological change, from small to large scale. Details are below: (1) Development of large scale tactile sensing system: based on the proposal in FY2020, we completed a design of soft tactile that can detect the contact location, contact force at large scale based on stereo cameras and light FEM (finite element method) model. The sensor can vary its stiffness and shape for different sensing tasks. (2) Investigate the VANmorph idea on the wrinkled sensor in the bending case: we built a model based FEM simulation to investigate the morphological change of the wrinkle under bending, and introduce machine learning approaches for equipping the sensor with active texture perception. (3)Other proposals of sensors with active sensing and bio-inspired soft robotic hands
