Outline of Annual Research Achievements

《ワイドバンドギャップ試料への対応》これまでの経験および物理の予測から,ETはバンドギャップ内の伝導帯の下(アノード側)にあると思われ,実際に大部分の分布はCBB付近に集中している.RDB-PAS法では,価電子帯からETへ励起させているため,連続光の最大エネルギーがバンドギャップ以上である必要であるが,現在の装置では約3.5 eVまでしか測定できないため,ワイドバンドギャップの試料に対応できない.さらに短波長側(最大6 eV程度)での照射が可能な分光光源を初年度に導入してワイドバンドギャップ試料への適用範囲拡大をはかった.具体的には,空気中でオゾンを発生する短波長の紫外線を出射するキセノンランプに200 nm以下の紫外線をカットする光学フィルターをとりつけ,約220 nmまでの紫外線を照射できるように改良し,5 eV程度までのバンドギャップをもつ材料にも適用できるようになった.
《高感度化=薄膜対応》これまで粉末だけを対象としてきたが,機能性材料として金属酸化物などを利用する場合には,薄膜状に成型して使用することが多い.RDB-PASの光音響信号は光を吸収する物質(ここではETに捕捉された電子)のマスに比例するため,10μm程度以下の薄膜では信号を検出できない.そこで,(1)分光系の集光と改良により,励起光強度の増大をはかるとともに,(2)セルに取りつけるマイクロフォン部分の封止を確実にして,感度の増大をはかった結果,酸化チタンにおいて,1 μm程度の膜厚のものを測定できるようになった.
