Outline of Annual Research Achievements

前年度準備した、1次元大規模クラスター状態を用いたクロック周波数25MHz量子計算実験を、本年度実際に行った。そして、この実験に成功し論文化した(W. Asavanant et al., Phys. Rev. Appl. 16, 034005 (2021))。導波路光パラメトリックアンプを開発し、6dB・6THz帯域のスクイーズド光の生成・観測に成功した(T. Kashiwazaki et al., Appl. Phys. Lett. 119, 251104 (2021))。この成功により、光量子コンピューターのクロック周波数6THzが視野に入って来たといえる。従来の量子コンピューターのクロック周波数は原理的に1GHzを超えられず、そのためスーパーコンピューターより高速に解ける問題は高速な量子アルゴリズムが存在する問題のみに限られていた。クロック周波数6THzの光量子コンピューターが実現すれば、高速な量子アルゴリズムが存在しない問題でも高速に解けることになり、量子コンピューターが真の意味で次世代コンピューターとなる。それへの足がかりを得たことは非常に大きな意味があると思っている。

超伝導ナノワイア光子検出器(SNSPD)を用いた光子数識別実験に成功した(M. Endo et al., Optics Express 29, 11728-11738 (2021))。従来の光子数識別器である超伝導転移端センサー(TES)は低速であり、高クロック周波数光量子コンピューターへの応用は困難であった。今回、従来光子の有無のみを検出する高速SNSPDの光子数識別能力を見出し、高速光子数識別を可能にした。この成功は、汎用高速光量子コンピューター実現への大きな一歩だと思われる。

令和4年4月~令和5年2月
令和元年度に生成に成功した2次元大規模連続量クラスター状態の高性能化および利用のための研究開発を引き続き行う。今年度は最終年度なので、本研究の最終結果を出す。
1.広帯域高レベルスクイーズド光の更なる高レベル化 2.光ファイバー光学系による実験系の再構築 3.ホモダイン測定におけるローカルオシレーター光位相の高速切り替え方式の開発 4.超伝導光子数識別器作製および作製した光子数識別器を用いた補助状態生成
5.4で生成した補助状態を、2次元大規模連続量クラスター状態での量子情報処理に用いる実験技術の開発 6.アダプティブヘテロダイン測定の実現
