Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We made a pioneering attempt of an ex-ante structural macroeconomic analysis of the cross-border factor mobility by developing both static and dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) models. The simulation results of our first study show that a foreign direct investment (FDI) stock increase in the ready-made garments (RMG) sector of Bangladesh would improve the household welfare. In our second study we found that a one percent wage rate fall in the foreign labor market of Bangladeshi migrants would negatively affect the household welfare by lowering wage and increasing unemployment in the domestic labor market. In both the studies, we also examine various counteractive measures to minimize the negative impacts and/or distributional inequality.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
We presented the results of our study in two international seminars and submitted our papers in academic journals to be published. Now waiting for the reviewer’s feedback.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
After getting the reviewer’s feedback from the journals we will incorporate those comments in our papers with necessary analysis. Then we will resubmit the revised version of our papers. I will also complete the analysis by doing literature survey to complete the other chapters of my PhD dissertation.
