Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the past fiscal year (FY2020), I mainly worked on the fast encapsulation of Pt/Sn metal clusters into ZSM-5 zeolite for propane dehydrogenation. The in situ encapsulation can proceed very fast and complete in just a few minutes, where ultrasmall Pt clusters are formed and simultaneously confined into the high-silica ZSM-5 zeolite along with its crystallization. The role of Sn is supposed to modulate the dispersion of Pt. The one-pot synthesized Pt/Sn-ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst exhibits very high activity and selectivity for the dehydrogenation of propane to propene. Moreover, the high activity of the catalyst can be maintained even after multiple cycles of reaction and regeneration. A paper on this topic has been published on Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
