Outline of Final Research Achievements

One of the most important forms of music within the Indian community in Japan is religious music, and Japanese people are also involved in this sphere. The main drivers of the globalization of Indian music in Japan are Japanese musicians who perform Indian music. Meanwhile, collaboration between different cultural communities through music is still in its early stages. While the number of joint performances between Japanese and Indian musicians is increasing, there is still room for deeper interaction. A genuine deepening of collaboration among Japanese Indian music performers, the general Japanese public, government institutions, and the Indian community is needed.
On the other hand, Japan--particularly Tokyo--which has not historically been regarded as a hub for Indian (musical) culture, is now connecting India, Japan, and the rest of the world, and may in the near future function as a center for the dissemination of Indian culture.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
