Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study examines the significance and challenges of artistic expressions intersecting with civic movements, focusing primarily on Japan's late 1960s through the 1970 Osaka Expo. Through this research, the activities of artists who incorporated social issues into their expressions are explored, highlighting how art and culture were shaped within societal contexts. The study explores the practices of artists involved in the folk song movement and the Osaka Expo, intersecting with civic movements associated with Shunsuke Tsurumi's "Theory of Marginal Art(Genkai geijutsu ron)" in the late 1960s, analyzing the activities and discourses of intellectuals and key persons through literature, documents, and interview surveys.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、戦後日本の芸術における表現と文化について、1960年代後半から70年ごろの活動に焦点を当てて考察するものであり、特に音楽文化であるフォークソング運動と日本万国博覧会(大阪万博)に関わった表現者たちが、どのように社会的な問題を活動に取り入れたのか、そこで同時期の市民運動とどのように交差したのかということについて考察した。本研究は、日本の芸術や文化イベントにおいて、表現活動がどのように作品として結実し、そのような表現が世界的な観点から日本の文化としてどういう意味を持つのか、という資料となるものである。このような研究は、これからの日本文化の研究においても学術的意義があるものと考える。
