Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to examine the significance of letters and miscellaneous materials, which have not been taken up in literature and thought research. Specifically, the reprint of the following three documents and the database of names of persons and books were made public and examined.
(1)"Roshi-monjo" , a collection of letters sent to Sosetsu RO, a scholar of Chinese classics in Nagasaki in the latter half of the 17 century, (2)"Kenzan Reitaku hisaku",a collection of letters sent to his disciples by Kyuso MURO, and(3) "Senkunshi Churyu ni atauru sho" , a collection of letters sent to his friend Shimei INOUE by Jozan YUASA,a Confucian scholar in the first half of the 18 century.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

今回取り上げた三点の資料は、いずれも漢文体であったり、候文(そうろうぶん)体であったり、未翻刻であったりして、資料としてはやや取り扱いにくいものであった。ゆえに従来は本格的な調査がなされていないが、その資料性の高さはつとに認識されていた。とくに人名や書名などは、彼らがどのような交友圏におり、どのような書物について関心をもっていたがが具体的に知られる重要な情報である。今回の翻刻や人名・書名データベースの公開は、17~18世紀学芸史の研究に大いに資するところがあると思われる。
