Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We held the major cultural exhibition "Discover America and the Beat Generation: Jack Kerouac Types 'On the Road' -- The Genealogy of a Counterculture through Publications.” This was a 30-day exhibition in Kobe, Japan, attended by more than 1,700 people. I delivered a series of five gallery talks open to the public. We also held an academic symposium, with important Japanese scholars and translators. All of these events were recorded by a professional videographer who posted them to Youtube where they are always available. There was also a movie showing introduced by Japanese scholars and translators.
The key piece of the exhibition was the replica of Jack Kerouac's ON THE ROAD typescript that was made by a Japanese printing company.
