Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Overall, our achievements were far below our initial aims. Our original intentions were conceived on a grand scale. However, the enduring effects of the Covid pandemic and the ensuing difficulty in recruiting research participants, severely hindered the depth and extent of our enquiry. However, the progress that we were able to make, particularly in carrying out focus group interviews with Japanese nurses, provided invaluable information with which to inform our own teaching, and further our ambitions to elevate the quality of English education for Japanese nurses. In the future we plan to continue to present and disseminate our findings in the hope that, in a more conducive research climate, our goal of proposing a core curriculum of nursing English education may yet be realised.
