Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
While starting to develop our aggregator website of ICT tools for Formative Assessment in EFL, we conducted pilot studies in 3 universities in Japan with a cohort of students from different backgrounds. After interventions using ICT tools for Formative Assessment we tested the feasibility of a few tools in the EFL classrooms. We also have started to build a global network through an international journal publication and a domestic conference presentations. Our data results from our pilot studies of ICT tools will be used to further develop a user-friendly website for EFL teachers.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
As planned we were able to start developing our website as well as conduct a pilot study. Because publication of our first paper in an international journal took some time, we are a bit behind on analyzing and writing up the results of our data from our pilot studies. We plan to do this in the first part of this year to allot more time to website development in the second half of your final year. Futuremore, because of the COVID-19 outbreak we foresee many conferences slowing down adcademics that will prevent us from implementing some of our discussions and mettings. Thus, as we have planned for Stage 3, we may not be able to hold any workshops as planned this year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
After analyzing and writing up a report using date from our pilot study, we plan to focus on website development to reach a wider audience in the Japanese EFL context. Though we are not sure if it will be possible this year due to the corona outbreak, we would like to conduct one more study using gathering more data from a fewer amount of ICT tools as well as present our data to academic organizations.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Funding will be necessary for the research team to meet in person in the final stage of this project to discuss the website as well as to conducting a follow-up investigation. Furthermore, domestic conference presentations for each team member to disseminate information will be necessary. To keep up with Formative Assessment and more importantly Educational Technology, attendance as well as networking as international conference will be key as well. Finally, to keep up with the literature in our field of the ever-increasing LHL-skills development and technology-enhanced formative assessment we would like to combine international conference attendance with school visitations (however, considering the current situation of the world, this may not be possible).
