Outline of Annual Research Achievements

This project has two objectives. The first is to research a method of teaching and learning a foreign language that promotes an approach that integrates linguistic and multicultural competences (Byram 1990, Kramsch 1993). The second objective is related to the creation of activities based on literary material that facilitate learning and the integration of intercultural competencies in the ELE classroom. This project is framed within the communicative approach to language teaching. This implies that the development of communicative competence should be present in any language activity. The literature pays a special attention to form, and this helps the learner reflect about language, another principle and goal of the communicative method.
The main concepts of this project are culture, culture diversity and intercultural competence, all of them oriented to the teaching and learning of a foreign language. This research want create an adequate framework for conceptualizing the knowledge, skills and abilities tied to human communicative actions, Byram created the term intercultural communicative competence, and it has since become widely used, with this model, it is sought to create diverse activities suitable to bring people through literature.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

During this last year, I have focused on creating new materials by looking for smaller literary texts and with a complete structure in itself, like a mini-story, so that students can draw their conclusions by reading a complete text. The activities continue to focus on showing cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

Future plans are to continue creating materials that students can learn about cultural aspects that positively motivate their study of the Spanish language. Also increase the interest for teachers to incorporate these types of activities in their classes. To do this, I will participate in conferences and training teachers to give out my research.

Causes of Carryover

Due to the pandemic it is impossible to participate in international congresses, everything has been done online, therefore expenses have dropped. During this year it is expected to participate in more events to explain the research
