Outline of Annual Research Achievements

I am still recruiting participants and have not begun to analyze their narratives or create online materials for nursing English, so there are no achievements to share.

Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

I originally planned to recruit and interview 100 participants over six, six-month stages, but the first stage was delayed by the ethics review process. This was not resolved until late into Stage 2. In Stage 2, I had planned on recruiting 33 participants, but was unsuccessful.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

I have revised my research plan and will attempt to recruit all 100 participants in the second year of the grant. I will expand my recruiting efforts to social network systems, online websites directed at non-Japanese residents, and offline locations where non-Japanese residents and tourists gather and visit. In the final year, I will have the interviews transcribed, create and upload the online materials, and perform the analysis outlined in the proposal.

Causes of Carryover

I was unable to recruit the targeted number of participants in the first fiscal year, so would like to use the current balance to recruit the full 100 targeted participants.
