Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the past 12 months the data analysis was finished, visualizations were computed, a user interface was published, and the project outcome was presented on a conference. - An interactive interface for browsing the speech act taxonomy as well as the patterns relating to each act was developed. The interface is a collapsable and expandable tree graph based on the d3-library. For each pattern co-occuring speech act sets were also visualized as graphs. - Easy sample sentences were computed for each speech act pattern and added to the interactiv interface. - The findings were published on the project website www.basic-german.com - The outcome was presented at the DAAD-Colloquium "DaF in Japan". More conference presentations will follow in the upcoming months (IVG-Congress; JGG Spring Meeting)

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The project goals have been achieved. However, minor changes and corrections to the website and database are made on an ongoing basis. Translations will be added.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the months ahead the principal investigator is planning to (1) disseminate the findings through participating at international and nationale conferences (2) discuss his findings during a research stay at the University of Zurich, which had to be postponed due to the travel restrictions.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to travel restrictions, I could not attend international conferences, nor was I able to conduct a research stay.
I will attend a postponed international conference in Europe and hope to be able to visit the University of Zurich to discuss my approach to corpus pragmatics with Prof. Noah Bubenhofer.
