Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Literature review continued on effective learning strategies, student metacognition, desirably difficult study methods, and the role of prediction in learning. Three presentations given:1)全国語学教育学会46回年次国際大会教材展示会 (Nov. 22,2020) titled “Testing Effective Test Prep: What works best?”; 2)全国語学教育学会46回年次国際大会教材展示会: Brain SIG presentation titled "Predictive Processing: Teaching to the Model"(Nov. 17,2020) titled “Strategies to Improve Learning”; and 3) 18th AsiaTEFL International conference(Nov. 28, 2020) titled "Effective Learning Strategies Exist, but Have You Learned Them in Your ESL/EFL Studies." One paper was published in relation to the study: "Building a Better Generative Model" 令和2年10月,『全国語学教育学会 Brain SIG:Mind Brain Education: Think Tank +』Vol.6 Issue 10、pp.33-37, ISSN: 2434-1002.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced classes to be online and face-to-face interactions at university to be very restricted. This has limited my access to students and has prevented me from completing the learning experiments according to my original timetable. The university expects to resume face-to-face instruction and allow interacting with students in the very near future.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
There are still some experimental data to be collected. This should be completed once access to students (in person) is permitted by the university. I am currently working on two papers related to this research project and have applied to present at one international conference. Acceptance is pending.
|
Causes of Carryover |
In the final year of this research project I will have expenses related to participating in conferences and preparing publications. This includes purchasing some books related to the key concepts related to the research findings.
