Outline of Annual Research Achievements

This year’s primary focus was developing the website <vocablevelchecker.net>. Using the website, users can take the Coverage-Based Levels Vocabulary Test (CBLVT) which was developed as part of this project. The website tells the user their score at each level and gives advice regarding the vocabulary level they should focus on. Furthermore, with the website’s profiling tool, users can analyse texts to find words at their level. The profiling tool has several options for the analysis and display of results while also aiming to be user-friendly.
In addition, despite limitations due to COVID-19, we carried out some further data collection with the CBLVT. Monitoring of item quality and test revisions are ongoing, as is a study of the vocabulary contained in language textbooks.
