Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The contents of the archives of the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law, Legal History Section, have been thoroughly reviewed and cataloged in detail. In relation to the task, I examined the meaning of the word "mibun" in the "Oshioki-reiruishu," a collection of precedents of the Tokugawa shogunate; the status of "Gokenin", Edo shogunate officials and their “Ie”; and the manner in which the shogunate issued the prohibition of luxuries in the first half of 17th century. The diary of the Tsushima clan's Edo domain residence elucidated how the clan's retainers coexisted with other Edo samurai and townspeople, and "Koho-sanrei," a collection of precedents of the shogunate was reprinted and introduced.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
