Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aimed to examine theories for companies facing the risk of closing or changing their business to use their technology again in society by reinterpreting it in a new business context.
As a result, it became clear that Japanese companies rarely switch businesses in a discontinuous manner, without deviating significantly from their livelihood using technology. However, there were several cases of business switch that sought to differentiate by adopting standard technology in a new industry and applying their own technology.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の学術的意義は、非連続的イノベーションのプロセスの一つとして、意味解釈の変容にかかる理論的枠組みを検討する点にある。技術の価値を企業が主体的に創り出す過程を明らかにすること、そして事業ドメインを面的範囲として捉え、面の重層化が存在するだけでなく、面と面の関係性に議論を発展させたことにある。また転廃業によって散逸される技術を新たに利活用するという点を示すことは、国力の維持・拡大という観点からも喫緊の課題として解決が模索される。
