Outline of Final Research Achievements

I explored the historical background of population and family policies in Japan, and found theories and practices that could be used as a counterpoint to those in developed Western countries. This study examines the historical background of the familialist welfare state based on "eugenic-euthenic thought" as a characteristic of Japan.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

福祉国家の国際比較において“家族主義的”と特徴づけられる日本型福祉国家の特性（歴史性）をめぐる議論に深みを与えることができた。具体的に言えば、本研究の成果は、性や家族をめぐる社会規範との向き合い方を考える上で参考になるのではないかと考えている。
