Outline of Annual Research Achievements

This project is based on a school-based intervention program to manage noncommunicable diseases in Bangladesh. According to our plan, we already completed baseline survey in 5 schools and collected data from 1300 students and 500 parents. A life style based health messages intervention program already implemented in 4 schools. If there is no major problem, we have plan to complete the endline survey by this fiscal year and assess the effect of intervention. We already started to analyze collected baseline data and want to investigate the cross-sectional association between lifestyle variables and obesity among adolescent students. We completed two draft manuscript using our data. We also presented our initial findings in Japan Epidemiological Association meeting.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

We had plan to complete baseline data from students and parents and complete the initiation of intervention program by December2020 and complete the endline survey by March 2021. However, all the surveys and ongoing programs are postponed due to spread of coronavirus and school closure in Bangladesh from March 2020.But, we hope we can finish our target task as soon as school has opened and continued their regular activities.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

According to our research plan, we will complete lifestyle-based messages intervention program and endline survey by this year and assess the impact of intervention by comparing data from baseline and endline. After completing the survey and collecting the data, we have plan to analyze data and publish in international journal and also will present in national and international conference.

Causes of Carryover

The incurring amount will be used to complete the endline survey.
