Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I have published two papers on my research in international refereed journals over the past two years. This past summer I was able to travel to Germany, Belgium (EU Headquarters), France (UNESCO headquarters), and the UK to visit bilateral and multilateral agencies in Europe to interview officials about my research topic. My intention is to do more archival research to perform document analysis on policy documents from the EU, European governments, and Asian governments to learn about their overall policy toward aid to Cambodia and especially that aid to the education sector.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
My research in terms of data gathering and publishing was progressing as planned until the COVID-19 pandemic started. Now it is unclear as to whether I will be able to visit the US and Europe to do further library and archival research and interviews this summer. That was my intention, but at this point Belgium and many other countries have restrictions on non-essential travel through at least June 15, 2020. I may attempt to apply for a visa to travel to Belgium and the EU to do research this summer, but there is no guarantee that I will be granted entry. It is for this reason that there is a concern that my research plan may be interrupted.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
As I have written above, due to the COVID-19 it is unclear whether travel to Europe and/or Asia will be possible this summer, so I may have to change my plan which was to go on a research trip to Europe, the US, and possibly Asia. In the meantime, I will try to do as much as I can in terms of requesting that officials at multilateral and bilateral agencies send me the documents which I require in digital format or schedule interviews over Zoom/Skype or some other platform. It is much more difficulty to secure data without making the commitment which comes with the effort of visiting offices in person, but I will do all that I can.
