Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Worked with the team to coordinate the project. Slowdowns continued due to a staff turnover at Huis Ten Bosch however, an introduction to some of the new staff facilitated by Professor Matsumoto reset things in the mid-summer. Conversions began of the content received from Professor LaClare as we planned to move it from one CMS to our platform, Moodle. This has turned out to be much more difficult and time-consuming than it first appeared and more time will be required to make the practice MOOC course ready for general use. Professor LaClare has continued to analyze the data from his local MOOC project to help support the implementation of ours. In the main MOOC course, good progress has been made in the animations by Professor Owatari-Dorgan. Supported by Professors Matsumoto, Rawson, and Van Deusen, audio recordings for 2 out of 3 scenarios have been completed. Careful layout and planning by Professor Owatari-Dorgan is keeping this part of the project on track. Professor Van Deusen was also instrumental in both the curriculum designs and the development of the initial user guide. The weak point the team is now facing now is that the supporting content for each of the scenario animations is still at an early stage of conception. In the coming FY, a new team member will join and hopefully help improve the pace at which content is developed for the MOOC courses.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The main causes of delay in our project are due to the difficulty and scope of the work which has been started, the turnover in staff at the theme park with whom we are coordinating, and the COVID19 pandemic which has increased our local workloads tremendously.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The team plans to refocus the efforts on both completing the transfer of assets to the practice MOOC course in Moodle and also the core development of both the main MOOC contents and supporting activities. The final course scenarios will be designed and developed. The curriculum will continue to be planned and the activities will be created. The Mobile App which was acquired during this project will also become more closely integrated with the project.

Causes of Carryover |
This past year an unexpected pandemic hit the world. This caused all of the late year business travel plans to be cancelled. Conferences moved online so the presentation was still able to be given, but there were very few expenses for the conference since no travel was permitted. Also, the costs of goods was not as expensive as originally thought in the planning stages, so some cost savings were realized upon purchasing equipment and others.
