Outline of Final Research Achievements

This project aimed to provide evidence for reducing depressive tendencies in university students, considering individual differences in sensory processing sensitivity, which describes sensitivity and reactivity to environmental stimuli. We conducted three studies and provided the two findings. First, the Highly Sensitive Person Scale used to measure sensitivity was suggested to have a good psychometric properties. Second, improving emotional coping skills may be effective for reducing depressive tendencies in individuals with high sensitivity, whereas problem solving skills may be effective in those with low sensitivity.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
