| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The aim of this project has been to investigate the potential for different pricing structures in the light of the more widespread introduction of shared transport schemes. In particular the collaboration and competition between mainstream public transport and shared transport schemes has been the target. In light of this different forms of marginal pricing have been explored and it has been shown that these can lead to gains for both operators and passengers. Furthermore, it was found that advances in basic modelling approaches with shared transport schemes needed to be improved as a basis for the evaluation of pricing structures. The network modelling with shared vehicle fleets has hence been another topic. In summary, the research can be divided into three streams:
1 Multimodal network modelling with free-floating bicycles. The access costs to a of free-floating bicycles is modelled. This approach is the basis for considering optimal charging for such services.
2 Network modelling of shared vehicles and public transport. It is shown how different pricing structures for shared vehicles impact the public transport demand.
3 Network flows with pricing where the cost per km is changing depending on trip distance. It is shown how such price structures can be beneficial.
