Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this research is to investigate the villages and buildings where tatara ironmaking was carried out in the Chugoku region. In order to confirm the composition of the village, 30 types of drawings were created based on documentary materials and field survey and compared. Then, in Yoshida Village, where the manager of the steel industry lived, detailed survey of the buildings was carried out. In addition, a survey of port towns related to ironmaking was conducted. Forty-two villages on the Shimane Peninsula were examined, and detailed field surveys were conducted for five villages.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
