Outline of Final Research Achievements

Analyses of quantitative trait loci (QTL) affecting productive traits of Japanese quail were carried out using F2 resource family. In total, 10 QTLs were detected at suggestive and significant levels for nine egg-related trais. In addition, eight QTLs were discovered at significant level for five growth-related traits. These results will be useful for future breeding and improvement of Japanese quail.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

ウズラは経済的に重要な家禽の1つであるが、産卵や産肉能力に関与する遺伝子座はほとんど特定されていない。そこで本研究では、3世代にわたる資源家系を作成し、形質データの測定とRADシーケンシングによるSNPマーカーの遺伝子型判定を実施した。そして連鎖解析を行い、産卵に関する形質では合計10個、産肉性（成長）に関する形質では合計8個の量的形質遺伝子座（QTLs）を検出できた。これらの情報は、今後のDNAマーカー育種の実現に貢献することが期待できる。
